...heats  you twice so they say. But I think the guy who coined this one never really cut his/her own.

I say it heats you six times. Cutting, loading, splitting, stacking, bringing it inside and then when you burn it.

we are still alive

just to update after almost a month, we had a few out of town visitors and have been very busy around here. almost ready for next season, wood shed is half full. and everyday that it's nice enough i continue to get loads of wood up to the house. this might be the year i get all the dead trees cleared up.

pest management

got these two double-pane french doors on freecycle and have two more coming my way. that is already a twelve foot long panel/wall eight feet high. should grow some tasty winter tomatoes. or whatever we decide to do with it.

a full day.

this was all today (the "day off") after we went to the DMV twice, got a new SS card and finally new drivers lincences .. also Becke got a new cell phone for the first time in like five years.

new garden plots are getting cleared.

new garden plot (three sisters) photo below:

this will include all corn (maize) blue, yellow, purple, strawberry popcorn, pink, small tri-color, etc.
in the winter squash family we will have cushaw, amber cup, acorn, pie pumpkins as well as some native pumpkin

and we are thinking about only growing the Anasazi beans and not pintos..we'll see

back on track

had a productive day off work and put in this shelf for succulents and hop cuttings.

Just a few of the now happier cacti on the window shelf. Plus this will give us more room for starting tomatoes, chiles and onions next month.
